One of the best decisions I’ve made at work is to stay away from office politics. It feels great not to get caught up in the drama, gossip, and backstabbing that can sometimes happen. By not indulging, I keep my mind focused on what really matters—doing my job well and enjoying the process. It’s so much easier to build genuine relationships with colleagues when you’re not part of the politics. You’re seen as trustworthy and fair, which naturally attracts more positivity.
For me, being neutral and staying away from the mess means I don’t have to worry about alliances or playing games to get ahead. I remember a time when two colleagues were arguing, and I decided not to take sides. Later, both appreciated my neutrality, and it strengthened our relationships. Life’s too short to waste on office politics. I’d rather focus on being productive and keeping things real.
If someone is passionate about their work, they will never indulge in office politics.
