Challenges

Being a fashion designer, I was always inclined toward creative activities in school. I used to ignore math classes. It was not my cup of tea so I did not take it seriously then.

It is when I started my own venture in fashion designing, I cursed myself for not knowing the basics of finance. For me, the income and expenditure statement was so difficult to understand initially. Now I think if I had given due attention to this subject I would be dealing with it smoothly.

Moreover, I don't remember my school teaching such statements even in math sessions.

Somehow I learned the subject and now I am at the intermediate level. I feel good and confident about it.

As per my experience, everyone should know how to read financial statements. It is a necessary part of life. Nowadays, there are a lot of short-term courses in finance for non-finance people.
