Based on what I read, it seems that CBSE/ICSE and NIOS and very similar and you and your son can make the decision based on the requirements he needs, as well as for his convenience/schedule.

There are 14+ tips that can help him. However, #2 on my list is what I would highly recommend you and your son to do. Creating a daily routine will help your son find a balance between practice time and studying. Having a schedule and routine to follow is needed. With open schooling, (from my research) it seems that the students and teachers do not have to be online at the same time. So, it would make sense for your son to write down the time he wants to practice football each day and for how long. Maybe it would look something like this:

Wake up at ___ time

Eat breakfast at ___ time

Practice Football at ___ time

Take a break from football and do schoolwork at ___ time

and so on ...

I may also suggest waking up and starting with homework first. Get the homework and studying out of the way, so he can spend the rest of his day practicing football with nothing hanging over his head (which is what it seems he would prefer to do)!

I also just created a daily schedule that you can find on my Online Products page that you may find helpful for either you or your son. You can print it out and use it to keep track of your day / what you want to get accomplished and when.

With open schooling it can be hard to keep yourself motivated to study, so making a routine to follow each day will help keep him on track and able to find time for both.
