A Friend Who Asks for Nothing

I have an old friend who calls me once or twice a year. We may not talk regularly, but somehow, we have never lost touch.
There is something special about this friendship. He never calls expecting anything from me. He just calls, asks how I am, talks for a while, and that’s it.
Whenever we meet or speak after a long gap, he welcomes me with the same warmth as always. No complaints about why I didn’t call, no expectations, no awkwardness.
Some friends don’t need regular conversations. They simply remain there, quietly reminding you that the friendship still matters.
