The Night Sona Mohapatra Stole Every Heart in Madhya Pradesh!

ree

Yesterday evening, I had the absolute joy of attending Sona Mohapatra’s live concert in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, and the experience was nothing short of electrifying as her voice, energy and presence lit up the entire campus with a magnetic force that wrapped around every single person for miles.

One of the things I admire deeply about Sona is her fearless spirit. She spoke powerfully about women’s equality and the wisdom women hold, wisdom that our society often overlooks. Her message about Meera, encouraging people to break stereotypes, question rigid rules and embrace a life filled with experiments and spontaneity, truly resonated with me.

I was also moved by her humility. Throughout the show, she personally went to each performer in her band, introducing them with warmth and pride. The most touching moment was when she introduced the woman playing the piano or synthesizer, I believe, who had given birth to a baby girl just a month ago. The applause that followed felt like a collective hug from everyone present.

A special mention to Ram Sampath whose incredible music continues to elevate Sona’s powerful voice, including the unforgettable track she sang for Laapata Ladies.

Even after performing non stop for two and a half hours, she ended the concert with immense kindness by accepting a song request from an elderly lady. And at one point, she even walked all the way to the back to greet the crowd and shake hands with fans. That gesture alone showed the depth of her empathy and connection with people.

Despite shivering in the cold at 11 PM, the energy around me was so positive and uplifting that I couldn’t bring myself to leave even for a moment.

A huge shoutout and heartfelt gratitude to Rabindra Nath Tagore University for organizing such an incredible show. I am already looking forward to attending Sona’s concerts again in the future.

What an unforgettable night. ❤️🎶✨
