How I Won the Lottery
Long ago, I “won” the lottery — but it wasn’t the kind where you win money. Instead, it gave me something even better, although I didn’t realize it then. Drawing a low number in the Selective Service Systems’s Vietnam draft lottery sealed the fate for many of us to become military recruits.
